Senior Software Engineer – Test

We are currently seeking an experienced embedded Senior Software Engineer in Test to join our talented team and contribute to delivering exceptional solutions for our clients.

About the role

You’ll be joining a multidisciplinary collaborative team developing a greenfield medical device in its earliest stages.

As a Senior Software Engineer in Test your primary focus will be to build and implement structured testing strategies and processes for embedded systems. As the testing capability is still being established, you will have the opportunity to shape and own the strategy and automation approach from the ground up.

You’ll work closely with the engineers to build and design automated frameworks, tools and processes to deliver reliable code for a medical device which combines embedded firmware, hardware, UI, software and hospital system integration.

About you

You enjoy working on and improving complex safety-critical systems through designing effective test strategies. Perhaps you have come from an embedded engineering background and have found a passion for testing and delivering tested code to market.

You’ll be a strong collaborator and communicator and will understand the importance of working closely with engineers to make code testable working mainly with C++ and Python.

What you’ll do

• Define and implement software test strategies aligned with system architecture and quality objectives

• Design and maintain automated test frameworks and tooling

• Own testing approaches for assigned subsystems and interfaces

• Work with development teams to ensure software is testable and verifiable

• Support requirements-based testing and traceability

• Investigate failures, support root-cause analysis, and verify corrective actions

• Contribute to continuous integration and automated test execution

• Provide technical guidance and review for test engineers

Your skills and experience

Whilst you do not need to meet all of these points, please ensure you meet the majority of them before making an application:

Essential:

• Strong experience in software testing for embedded and/or Linux-based systems

• Experience designing automated test frameworks and infrastructure

• Understanding of embedded software architectures and constraints

• Experience with system-level or hardware-in-the-loop testing

• Experience working in regulated or quality-controlled environments

Desirable:

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines for embedded or system software

• Python or C/C++ development experience

• Familiarity with requirements management and traceability tools

• Experience testing communication protocols (UART, CAN, TCP/IP)

• Exposure to IEC 62304 or similar software lifecycle standards
